Head of Making Tide Famous

Head of Making Tide Famous

A unique opportunity to make an ambitious startup famous.

At the centre of the role is a program of initiatives designed to make our brand well-known and loved. Spanning Product, Marketing, PR and Partnerships, it's a broad set needing good collaboration with other teams, top-notch execution and the ability to make things (product features, publicity initiatives, marketing collateral across various formats and for different audiences) really 'sing'.

The program celebrates our members (customers) and their struggles and successes. Our product is on its way to greatness and we'd like to cultivate a community and movement to match.

About Tide

Tide is about doing what you love. We believe the world would be a better place if more people gave it a shot. We’re building a business current account that gives time back to those who work for themselves, so they can get back to doing what they love.

Our members have a fully-functioning account in 5 minutes. It gives them an integrated set of all the financial services they need to run their business in a mobile and desktop environment.

Tide launched in January 2017 and in July, announced $14m funding from leading venture capital firms (Anthemis, Creandum, LocalGlobe and Passion) and industry insiders. We have grown extremely fast since launch and have ambitions to sign 50m businesses up, over the coming years, across the world. More significantly, we have the privilege of progressing a mission which is genuinely important for the world.

More about Tide and our product:

You can also read about our our culture, which we take very seriously, and see it for yourself here. Our marketing mix is a rich and interesting one. The broader marketing team, which includes PR and Partnerships, is c.10 people large.

Your job will be to make Tide loved and famous with SMEs in our target territories (UK initially, with other countries launching soon.). Our audience is those who have recently started a business and particularly freelancers, consultants, developers and tech entrepreneurs. We expect this audience to widen very fast.

The role reports into our CMO, a Xoogler who has previously led Marketing for other fintech startups. Our Founder takes a huge interest in this area too.

You will:

  • Own a comprehensive program of initiatives to make us loved and famous. It spans areas including Product, Marketing, PR, events, corporate affairs and partnerships. You might not be an expert at all of these but you should have the appetite to engage widely and to bring a bit of magic to them.
  • Help us become 'the most recommended company' in this space.
  • Ensure our brand is tightly defined and effectively communicated in all channels (we are midway through a brand redefinition & relaunch).
  • Work with and potentially lead the team of three running community management (who run social media, online member engagement and some in-person member engagement at e.g. events) and content (we are hiring for a copywriter).
  • Collaborate with our Product, PR and Partnerships teams - the program you lead will include initiatives in these areas.
  • Help teams including Performance Marketing and Product Marketing with brand execution.
  • Work closely with the CMO and CEO, both of whom are deeply interested in the success of this area.

  • Experience making a new brand well-known and loved.
  • Relishing working outside the boundaries of traditional brand marketing, e.g. with PR, Product and Partnerships.
  • A track record of delivering a program of initiatives without media spend at their centre.
  • Brilliant communication skills – the ability to communicate clearly, persuasively and tenaciously with both internal and external collaborators.
  • The capability to execute really well, with attention to detail - ideally across copy, design, events and more.
  • The appetite and capability to understand our customers and marketing success through research.
  • A demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire a business to make brand led decisions, since you will be Tide's own brand champion.

Our interview process consists of an initial phone/video screen and a couple of on-site interviews with a selection of employees from across the business. All going well, we’ll also schedule a video call with George, our CEO.

Opening Date: 20th December 2017
